Evaluation - Question Three (DRAFT)

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Throughout the whole process of this coursework, we collectively as a group have received a number of examples of audience feedback. This has been very beneficial to us as a group, and because we have only just released our video we are still waiting on feedback from that. However we shall go into more depth with that feedback and possibly conduct a survey within our target audience in order to gain a level of understanding within our audience as to how this video would go down within the music community. This would be more essential to my understanding because without seeing what the audience thinks to the final video then I wouldn't get a clear idea of whether what we did was good or bad. Also I have emailed the Music Video Director, Lucy Needs, again to ask for her opinion on the video because I felt it was appropriate to gain feedback from an industry expert. However before all of the feedback is collected, this is the feedback we have received so far.

  1. Lauren, this post is lacking a lot of detail. The crucial feedback is that which concerns your final product. As a group you could all arrange a screening of your video and get your audience to complete a questionnaire so you can collate and evaluate their feedback. What you are looking for is information on how succesful your group has been when making the product (does it essentially work as a music video) this would then enable you to evaluate not only your product but your audience.

To access the highest band the examiner would expect to see the following terminilogy

    preferred, oppositional and negotiated reading.

These terms are faily simple, 'preferred reading' is simply when the audience view/read/understand the product in the way the director intended. Oppositional is when the audience take the opposite view point and negotiated is when an audience can see what the director was attempting, see some weakness but ultimately not dismiss the product.

If you think in terms of a big mac the preferred reading of a big mac is 'I want one, they're delicious', the oppositional is 'they're bad for your health and will make you fat so I won't eat one' and the negotaited reading is 'I know they're bad for you health but if I only eat the occasional big mac it wont be bad for my health.'

Bronte also broke her post on feedback into a section of RP and a section on production.
